H.U.G.S. stands for Hillel Upperclassmen and Graduate Students. It is the wing of our organization that plans religious programs and Jewish learning. If you want to get involved in planning social events, please contact H.U.G.S. leaders. Don't forget to join the H.U.G.S. Facebook group!

That's right! Israel turns 60 this Spring! To celebrate, we've got a semester full of Israel-related programs, including discussions for those students who have gone, information for those who want to go again or for their first time, lectures on what the experience was like, a party just like a Tel Aviv discoteque, and more! Let us know if you'd like to get involved!

If you're Jewish, age 18-26, and have never been on a peer-group trip to Israel, Hillel offers the best ways for you to have the time of your life in Israel.

Taglit-Birthright Israel: Hillel wants to send you on a FREE 10-day peer trip to Israel. The trip will occur during Winter Break 2007-2008. Please discuss this issue with your parents, and pass along any questions you have.

To register, go to www.freeisraeltrip.org. Registration will close October 10th.

Look out for our Jewish Alumni of LSU weekend October 5th through 7th, 2007!

• President: overseeing entire organization, handling public relations, developing campus and community coalitions
• VP of Programming: developing committees (Religious, Social, etc), meeting with committee chairs to program events
• VP of Membership: engaging new members, acting as historian, developing committees (Recruitment, Liasons to SAM and TFI), meeting with committee chairs to coordinate members
• Secretary: coordinating calendars (University-wide, SAM, TFI), sending listserv emails, keeping minutes at meetings, keeping contacts with liaisons and webmaster
• Treasurer: coordinating budget and finances, fundraising, handling grants/scholarships/conferences for members, contacting alumni

Another semester has come and gone, but we're already preparing for the next one!
